I will only have to take 17 hours of college, what does this mean?

i am going to a community college to study for Dental Assisting and it says for basic dental, it will be 17 hours and then advanced will take 21 hours. So i'm sure i will take the basic then go to advance. What does 'hours' really mean? will i be in school for about a year or less? They told me that i will be going Mon-Thurs. so i will be a full time student.

If anyone knows any of this information and anything about dental assisting, please let me know! thx!

you'll probably stay in college for about 9months to a year...good luck!
Reply:I would think it would be 17 hours per week as just going for 17 hours doesnt seem that much for all that you have to learn.
Reply:It's based on the idea of a "credit hour" It has nothing to do with the amount of time you are in school.

Basically, it is a way of measuring the difficulity of the class (a 3 credit hour class is easier than a 4 credit hour class) and how many classes you need to graduate.
