Dental assistants make twice as much money as a pharmacy tech. Plus, the get great perks like teeth whitening!
Which one is better to go for. pharmacy tec, or dental assisting? why?
Pharmacy tech!
Well, I guess it depends on where you live..
I chose this because I live in Michigan, and my mom is a dental hygienist and she has a really hard time looking for a full-time job. Anything dental at the moment job-wise is not looking very promising for future demand.
Reply:I would choose dental assistant also. I am a current certified pharmacy technician and I am having a difficult time finding a job in my area because retail pharmacies like Rite Aid, Walgreens and even Walmart prefer you to have experience (they do not want to take the time to train a newly licensed pharm tech.) and forget about hospitals (they will NOT even consider your application if you do not have hospital experience). I am having to volunteer at a hospital next month in order to gain pharmacy and hospital experience. I'm not thrilled working for free after spending so much money on college tuition for this course and also the hefty examination/licensing fees. If I could turn only turn the clock back, I would have studied to become either a radiologic technologist or a professional chef.
