How hard is the schooling for Dental Hygienist?

I would like to go to school for Dental Hygienist after I complete the Dental Assisting program. I would like to know how hard the two year program is and about how much do Dental Hygienists make?

How hard is the schooling for Dental Hygienist?
The program I went through in KY was VERY competitive. The course work can be tricky but with good study habits it shouldn't be too difficult. If you've completed the assisting program you may actually have an advantage. Here in KY , slaries range from $18 to $30 + per hour depending on experience.
Reply:Since you're now in a dental assisting program, you're already getting a good exposure to dental terminology and procedures. To be a dental hygienist, you need to be a HS grad, have done pretty well in sciences especially biology. The 2-year academic program is not horrible, so someone of above level intelligence can handle it. You also need to have pretty good hand/eye coordination and be able to work with small instruments in a small space.

Dental hygiene is one of the highest paying occupations for a 2-year non-college degree, and especially in the larger cities, hygienists can earn up to $30-$40 per hour.
