Is taking a course in medical/dental assisting on the internet a good decision for beginning a new career?

I have begun the class and now am starting to wonder as to the wiseness of my decision, would like to hear from someone who has possibly done this already or has completed the course. Will employers take me seriously by having done this class on the net and not in a nursing school?

I have learned after becoming a medical assistant and graduating that it is easier to be in class at a school because of the access of the teaches and the more information I took in being taught in a classroom setting than an internet class. Sure you get to attend class when ever you want when your taking an online course, but there is an advantage with learning in school because of the inteaction with the class room discussions. When it comes time to practice being a medical assistant like drawing blood from dummies or injecting shots you sort of don't have the advantage of praticing because you are not in a class. Did you also check to see if the online school is accrediated? Will they transfer your credits if need to be? I would watch out for things like that. One thing employers lookat is which school you graduated from like I graduated from Robert Morris College and when the employer hears the name of the college, they recognize the name. YOu may have a tough time with getting a job because of online classes. It's easier to attend a community college near you live and it's cheaper too than online classes. If you do decide to transfer to another college to continue your education, then you may have to start all over again because of the college accrediation. That's another thing wat employers look for is the schol accrediation and how high you graduated in the class. Good luck.
