Undergraduate dental trips??

I am an undergrad and I'm hoping to go to dental school. One of my friends took a trip with her church to the Dominican Republic to assist dentists for a week. I am looking for a trip similar to this but no churches in my area offer these types of medical missions. Do you know of any places I could go to get information about a trip like this???

Give the American Dental Association's mentoring program a try. They might offer such activities for you to participate in: http://ada.org/public/careers/beadentist...

Hope this helps, and good luck!
Reply:Contact the Church of Latter Day Saints. You may have to be Mormon for a while, but they are well known in the dental field for their choice of locations with poor dentistry.
Reply:I went to a search engine and entered in "Churches doing Undergraduate dental trips" and several popped up. The search engine I used was "Blingo" but probably MSN or Yahoo would find some, too. Good luck, I hope you find one!
Reply:That's wonderful of you to think of others. Here's a link I found:

I just did a quick google search under volunteer dental international or charity dental international. You can always contact your local dental school and ask them if they are in any way affiliated with a charitable group that does this. It's such a wonderful cause, when in our country many people choose not to go to the dentist out of fear or laziness, these folks in the poorest places will walk all day to get to a temporary clinic and pray to be seen by a dentist. Good luck to you!
