Y should anyone choose dental assisting as a career choice?

Im thinking about getting into this field, but i cant think of a reason y I should. It's kind of a last resort. :/

Y should anyone choose dental assisting as a career choice?
if you don't go to college it's the best job out there. the pay is as much as a teacher makes and the hours are excellent. we only work 4 days a week.
Reply:You shouldn't get into dental assisting. It's got terrible working hours, very low pay, and the dentists you work for are usually very bad bosses. You're exposed to toxic chemicals and spend your day suctioning peoples' saliva and putting bibs on them. It's also the ultimate dead-end job where there is no promotion to anything else and very little wage increase in spite of experience. How can this be a "last resort"? There are a million other careers that are more impressive to think of.
Reply:Because they like to work with a dentist?
Reply:I'm not sure how this works but I have an aunt who started out as a dental assisant out of jr, college then later finished college and she is now a dental hygentist. The moral of this story is she is making very good money in (Houston,TX).
Reply:As a Medical Teacher, I do not advise anyone to take a class, or make a career choice that he/she is not passionate about. You should pick something that you will actually enjoy. If you choose a career that you do not like to begin with; you are likely to become miserable. This would be unfair to you, the company and especially the patients. But, if you do enjoy helping people, or if you like health-care in general I recommend that you explore other avenues within the field (there are so many!). You may find this interesting:
